NOREN PRODUCTS HEAT EXCHANGERS

Air-to-air, and air-to-water electrical enclosure heat exchangers

Modern industrial electronics continue to be placed in smaller and denser sealed enclosures, resulting in electronics that are being stressed by higher temperatures, which might result in premature failure.

If the enclosure is ventilated, moisture, dust, oil, dirt and other contaminants can insulate sensitive electronic equipment, again causing overheating problems.

The compact cabinet cooler is a heat exchanger and is available as either an air-to-air or an air-to-water design, and solves this problem by cooling and recirculating the clean air inside the enclosure. At the same time, it maintains the enclosure's protective seal against contaminates.

Noren air-to-air coolers use heat pipe technology to cool NEMA 12, 4 and 4X enclosures.

  • Compared to Air Conditioners they are much smaller and lighter
  • Because the only moving parts are two or more small fans, the kilowatt draw is much less and they are more reliable. There is no compressor or drive motor to fail in the future and shut you down.
  • And, they use no Freon!
  • Information we need to correctly size our air-to-air or air-to-water heat exchangers:

  • enclosure dimensions
  • which surfaces have a foot of air space, front, back, two sides, top and bottom
  • highest expected room or ambient temperature
  • interior heat load in Watts or BTU/hr., or, the measurment of the room or ambient temperature, and enclosure interior temperature at the same time with the enclosure sealed and running under operating conditions.
  • inside or outside; in the sun?
  • environmental conditions
  • washdown, stainless steel, NEMA 4 or 4X?
  • UL needed?
  • water temperature if air-to-water heat exchanger
  • water condition
